After practice, Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien said that defenseman Dennis Wideman was doubtful for Monday's game. However, Julien also indicated Shawn Thornton, Steve Begin and Michael Ryder should be in uniform tomorrow afternoon.

The Bruins are working through a rare Sunday practice before a Monday homegame. Shawn Thornton, Steve Begin and Michael Ryder are not on the ice, and are most likely just getting a breather. Dennis Wideman is not skating, either.

Marc Savard and his linemates Marco Sturm and Milan Lucic are flying.

Last night, I asked Marc if a season could be turned around in 10-minutes?

"It sure felt like it there," he said. "You know we came in off the second period, and I mean whenever you have a home stand you want to have at least .500 on it, and that was our last chance that third period.

"We went out there and just went and played hockey and it felt great, the crowd got into it. We were hearing a lot of boo’s out there tonight, and you know that doesn’t feel good. So we went out there and got the cheers back.

"Hopefully we can get [them] back Monday with another [win]," said Savard.

Savard was all over NHL On the Fly this morning, what with his third period goal and his shootout deciding tally. Obviously, the center has been working on his shot and his shootout moves.

"Well we had a chat in the beginning of the year, and obviously Kessel was a big part of our shootout. So, he called me in and asked 'what is it are you nervous? You don’t like shooting?' I said, 'No, I love shooting I just have to be more patient.'

"I have always done well on shooting in juniors or on breakaways or whatever, I am never patient and me and Bob Essensa [Bruins goaltending coach] have been working on it.

"On video we looked at some guys in the league that are very successful...and [during the shootout] I saw him lock that leg on that side and I knew I had him, and I was able to put it in," he said. "I had different options as I went in and I kept my head up and my first option was to shoot a low blocker...he put his leg down and I knew that I had him when I went to the right."

But the goal that helped the B's get to the shootout was just as impressive.

"There was a bit of a screen there, and I saw that hole short-side wide open and I knew if I got it off quick, I could beat him back to the net," said Savard. "If you watch the replay...as it hits Z’s stick there was some defenseman that came through on kind of a screen I think and I was short side, and I was able to see that short side quickly and I had to rip it and fortunately it went in.

"Luch did a great job on that shift and personally he had a great game and I give him credit, and obviously Z just jumping in there.

"I said to Luch “you know you looked like Gretzky back there but too bad there was a guy who is 7 feet[tall]  in front of the net, you put it inside on him bet he’s not going to get it”. So it came over to me and luckily I got the goal.

Thank goodness for Goalie Bob and the video session, because Savard turned a horror show into a highlight reel.

"Yeah, like I said we got those boo’s and I mean we took some unfortunate penalties [but] we weren’t too disappointed after the first," he said. "The second, we...gave up some goals that I don’t think we should have as a team.

"We weren’t happy in here and, like I said, we wanted at least .500 on the homestand and this was our last chance to go out there and prove it."

The cheers from the Garden crowd was all the proof Savard needed.
