Monday, Monday...

The B's workout schedule remains full, with two on-ice practices on Monday.

No gimme for Tuukka
The message was clear, the position is there for the taking, but nobody is guaranteed anything.

"I think Tuukka has to understand that he has a great opportunity here," said Claude Julien after practice on Monday.

"He's got to seize it," added the B's head coach.

Tuukka Rask (1 NHL game in 2008-09, 57 AHL games with a 33-20-4 record) comes into Boston's training camp as many pundits' pick for the #2 position on the B's goaltending depth chart and as high as 1B on others (and one prominent radio personality sees him as Timmy's direct competition).

However, Coach Julien made it clear that Dany Sabourin ( 19 NHL games with a 6-8-2 record, and 19 AHL games) will enter into the equation.

"He's got some competition," said Julien. "There's a guy by the name of Sabourin that's got some experience in this league.

"And we've got some young guys pushing, as well.

"Realistically, it's probably more Sabourin/Rask competition [to] see who will be working with Timmy this year."

Stay tuned.

3:16 p.m.
The B's are done on the ice, but we're still working -- keep it here.

1:28 p.m.
B's assistant athletic trainer, Derek Repucci, sitting on the bench during practice, just successfully dodged an errant puck.

"That's the way, Derek," yelled a smiling Coach Julien, clearly relieved that the team's massage therapist was okay, and perhaps admiring the nonchalance of Derek's dodge.

Whenever a puck heads toward the bench -- and nobody gets hurt -- the stories and laughter ensue. That's particularly so if, unlike Derek, the dodger is undignified in his attempt at getting out of the way.

Should that happen, the ribbing will continue for most of the day (and perhaps the month).

1:07 p.m.
Second session in motion. Lots of battle drills -- the B's are going to very tired.

Blake Wheeler continues to look good, throwing his weight around. Lucic and Chara had the most impressive battles, though. Both men were hitting pretty hard, but came out of the drill wearing a smile.

12:18 p.m.
Asked if Coach Julien changes the way he does things (in terms of practice and workout structure), Shawn Thornton said that he did not notice "a huge change.

"It's fairly routine -- I've been around here for a couple years now -- you pretty much know what he expects from you and you just try and bring it."

And if a Bruin does that, then he is not going to hear too much criticism from his coach.

"That's pretty true in any walk of life," he said. "If you you give everything you have, there nothing more to be said.

"I think the guys, so far, the first couple of days have done a great job," said Thornton. "[They've] come out, working hard and concentrating on the hour and a half...we've been on the ice."

11:35 p.m.
The team has left the ice. I'm heading to the locker room.

11:22 a.m.
Session 1 is winding down.

9:37 a.m.

And away we go.

The Bruins will have two on ice sessions today, with Group B going at 10:00 a.m. and Group A going at 12:30 a.m.

The B's morning started even earlier when many of the players, including Blake Wheeler, reported for the team's annual photo shoot. Wheeler took the occasion as a good time to start using Twitter via @NHLBruins. He "tweets" under the tag "^26" and will be communicating with the Hub of Hockey via the Boston Bruins official Twitter page moving forward.
