Boston Rookies Drop Final Game, 3-2, to Pittsburgh

Kitchener, Ontario --
The Boston Bruins rookie squad fell to the Pittburgh Penguins rookies, 3-2, Thursday afternoon in The Aud in Kitchener, Ontario.

Pittsburgh's Keven Villeaux beat Boston goaltender Matt Dalton (49-saves) at 9:10 of the second period to give the Penguins their final lead of the contest. Jordan Knackstedt (13:05, first period) scored the first of Boston's goals thanks to a play created by Marc Zanetti and Jason Wilson, while Jeff LoVecchio converted at 16:20 thanks to a pass from Zach Hamill.

Casey Picard-Zabotel and Andy Bathgate each scored for the Penguins while Pittsburgh's Brian Strait and Boston's Scott Fletcher fought -- all in the first stanza.

Pittsburgh goalie Patrick Killeen stopped 20 Boston shots for the win.

The Bruins fell to 2-1-0 in the tournament. The rookies will join the rest of the Boston training camp roster this weekend when the Black & Gold begin their official 2009 training camp schedule.

The Bruins in Canada and the Bruins in Massachusetts are looking at their final action before training camp today.

Boston's rookie squad takes on the Penguins youngsters this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Meanwhile, according to Boston.com, the Wilmington contingent just finished up their last informal practice.

Here in Kitchener, the only news before game time is that Levi Nelson will not play today due to injury -- too bad, too because Levi had played well during the first two games of the tournament before getting hurt in the first period on Thursday.

For those of you who are waiting for exact times and places for the B's upcoming training camp, hang tight.
