Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli's thoughts on July 1: "We’re going to sit back...History has shown that whenever there’s people talking about being reluctant and conservative going into this period there’s always people that will pay...unless something drastic changes you won’t see aggressive moves by us to start."

"Who knows?"

That was my answer to friends who aks, "What do you think the Bruins will do on July 1?"

And now that the big day is here, "Who Knows?" is still my answer.

There are just too many moving parts to predict how the B's will look when the club finally returns to Ristuccia Arena in September. There are too many variables -- salary cap being the most important -- to give any sort of prediction.

It's Canada Day in the land up above, but even if it were not a national holiday (akin to July 4th in the states), July 1 has become another one of those days which, like trade deadline day, will have hockey fans around North America watching their computer screens.

The action has started early, and what with Scott Gomez going to Montreal in exchange for Chris Higgins, there is already plenty of news and speculation.

What I do know is this -- when and if the Bruins do make a move or a signing you'll have all of the facts right here.

BTW: My friends on Twitter stand a good chance of knowing the news before anyone. JB
