2 Out of 3 Ain\'t Bad, but...
Calgary, Alberta – The Boston Bruins came very close to bringing home six points from their road swing through Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary, but everyone in the B's locker room seemed dissatisfied with the four points that the club took from the Oilers and Canucks after the Black & Gold fell a goal short against the Flames.

Blake Wheeler, who scored Boston's second goal, believed that the B's were very close to bringing themselves back from a two-goal deficit.

"That was our mindset," said Wheeler. "I think we felt like Timmy (Thomas) really did a great job keeping us in the game.

"The third (goal) hurt, obviously, but we tried to get back into it and just fell short."

Wheeler looked at the Calgary game and gave an honest assessment.

"You can't take any nights off in this league, and I think we might have taken it a little bit for granted," he said. "They are a good team and obviously they came out and wanted it more than we did for a little while and that was the game."

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara pinpointed the issues that opened the door for Calgary.

"In the second period we got into penalty trouble," he said. "I think that cost us a lot of energy and (lost us) the momentum of the game and they scored two goals.

"That was a really disappointing period for us."

Chara believes that the Bruins can look at that second period and learn a very important lesson.

"We need to put 60-minutes together," he explained. "We can't have lazy points (in the game) like that.

"Overall, it was a good road trip, but when you look at (the fact) that we could easily have six points, it's a little bit disappointing, too."

Nobody was more disappointed than Marc Savard and the playmaker immediately looked toward the next game for some redemption.

"I think Saturday plays a big part now," he said. "If we win Saturday's game at home it will feel a lot better winning (four out of five) if you look at it that way.

"We threw everything we had at them in the third, but you can't win in the NHL playing one period and it seems like that's what we tried to do tonight.

"It took us until the third to wake up."

Head coach Claude Julien concurred.

"The second period was just a bad period," said the coach. "You dig yourself a hole and you try and get out of it.

"I thought we competed better in the third, but…you can't expect to win a hockey game if you don't play sixty."

Coach Julien refused to take solace in the B's two Western Conference wins.

"I'm not happy the way we finished (the trip) and that's the way we should approach it," he said. "We were in a position to get six points, and if you want to get satisfied with four, then you'll get the results that come with it.

"We have to be more demanding, and if we had been, maybe that second period would have been a better one."

The Bruins fly home to Boston during the day on Friday and return to the TD Banknorth Garden on Saturday for a game against the Dallas Stars.
