Hi everybody... I'm doing this blog for the first time, so bear with me.

I'm sure everyone wants to hear about the free agency period that begins tomorrow. Well, we've been in the midst of heavy preparation. I know there's a demand for a new player, or players, and we're going to try to do our best. It's a really tense time now because you don't know what's going to happen after the free agency period starts. You don't want to overpay. You have your eye on certain players, and it's a game of dominoes... but it's an exciting time!

I also just wanted to say something briefly about all these rights deals that people are seeing where teams are acquiring player's rights in advance of the free agency period. To me, you have to look at that on a case-by-case example. Oftentimes, you're playing your cards too early and you'll end up overpaying when it comes to negotiating with the individual player, and you give the player an idea going into the market. We've explored it, but we've decided that it would be better just going right into the free agency period and rely heavily (as always) on our pro scouting.

We're looking forward to free agency opening up tomorrow and I'll keep you posted along the way.

Check back here tomorrow.
