|Jeremy Reich, Milan Lucic, Mark Stuart and Shawn Thornton ham it up.
Yes you heard it correctly, act.
The Boston Bruins own Shawn Thornton, Milan Lucic, Jeremy Reich, and Mark Stuart stepped off the ice for a just a little while to meet up with NESN at a local construction site and shoot the new Bruins commercial.
The site, located across the street from the TD Banknorth Garden, is the new Avenir Archstone condo location built by Dimeo Construction.
“We’re very good actors, we’ve been fooling people for years,” said Shawn Thornton jokingly, but correctly.
None of these guys were rookies in front of a camera and, in fact, it was actually the second time they had the opportunity to film a commercial together.
“After the first one you get a little experience for it so you kind of know what to expect,” said Lucic.
While on a top floor of an unfinished building on the site the only thing you could really hear were shouts of laughter coming from the players and the camera crew. But that’s expected when you put four jokesters together while trying to memorize their lines.
“I couldn’t stop laughing at Luch [Lucic],” said Stuart, “I think we were supposed to be serious, but I couldn’t stop laughing at him.”
“Yeah, I think I said three words in the whole thing [commercial],” said Lucic, “Last time we didn’t say much, this time we were thrown a few lines so we’re taking it up the ranks a bit,” he said with a laugh.
Keep in mind that Lucic's line was: "We just chilled."
“One line is probably all I can remember,” said Reich, “I can’t even remember what I had to say….I get hit in the head a lot, that’s my excuse [laughs].”
Among the cameras and crew there were also a couple of construction workers who had the chance to watch the guys act.
“It was my first time on a construction site,” said Lucic, “It was pretty cool and we got to talk to some of the construction workers there, they were really happy to see us and it was really great to meet them.”
For one of the players being on a construction site was nothing new.
“I haven’t been back in the construction environment in eleven years,” said Thornton, “it’s kind of nostalgic being up there.”
The guys definitely had a good time and enjoyed the experience in each other's company. Acting may not be their forte but they were the first to admit that they should stick to what they are best at, hockey.
“Yeah, I’m awful, terrible at acting,” Stuart admitted.
“I really don’t think I’m cut out to be an actor,” laughed Reich, “But it’s definitely interesting and it’s something that if I wasn’t playing [hockey] I wouldn’t get to do. Hopefully the fans like it.”
You can catch the newest incarnation of Lunchpail AC in their new commercial here on Bruins TV or this week on NESN.
