Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has signed forward Jeff LoVecchio to an entry-level contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

"Jeff is a big, strong skater who also has a good shot," said Chiarelli.  "Last year he was voted one of the best defensive forwards in the CCHA and at the same time scored 19 goals.  We expect Jeff to work on his skills in Providence and then in time, contribute as a two-way player in the NHL."

LoVecchio, a 6'2, 200-pound left wing was a free agent who played the last three seasons for Western Michigan University. This year, LoVecchio scored nine goals and had 12 assists in 36 games for the Broncos.

Last year at WMU as a sophomore, the 23-year old forward set career bests in goals (19), assists (15), and points (34) in 37 regular season games. He also was one of three finalists for the CCHA Defensive Forward of the Year award and served as the team's co-captain.

During his 2005-2006 season, the Chesterfield, Missouri native was dubbed WMU's Suzanne Klop Rookie the Year and led all freshmen in scoring (18 points) and games played (40). He also tied for third in team scoring overall.

LoVecchio played with the Uof SHL Omaha Lancers prior to his collegiate career.  In his final season with the Lancers in 2004-2005, LoVecchio was named alternate captain and helped lead the team to a 41-19 record and a share of the Anderson Cup as USHL regular season co-champions. He ended the season +21 +/- rating and received the team’s leadership award.
