Hey folks. This is the first minute I have had to sit down. It's funny, because all three men I have interviewed have said they would be satisfied staying with the roster we have in the room, right now. But they seem awfully busy in The War Room.

Angela Stefano reports that the Bruins are starting to trickle onto the ice, and Andrew Alberts and Patrice Bergeron were the first guys on, but did not skate with the rest of the team.

If you want to get caught up on the day, the podcasts above and the photo gallery should put you in good stead. Then, go and launch BruinsTV for the simulcast of TSN's coverage.

So near, yet so far. This is killing me. I can see things going on, but as my buddy in the next cube said, "Hey, you don't know, they could be ordering Chinese food."

Well, I do not see any chicken fingers flying around, and all four men in The War Room look very intense.

As you know, all three men played hockey, and I would imagine that we are seeing their "game faces" in use.

It's honestly been a spectacular experience -- I look forward to hearing Peter explain everything at 4:30 p.m.

John Bishop is the beat writer for He covers the Black & Gold hoping to offer a positive look at the team, not only from the stands and the press box, but also from inside the locker room. A graduate of Boston U. and Northeastern, 'Bish' grew up in Connecticut and moved to the Hub of Hockey in 1993. Since then he has made all four rinks at the Beanpot schools, as well as both Gardens, his icebound homes away from home. Prior to joining the TD Banknorth Garden staff in 2005, Bishop had written for several publications, with his primary focus being college hockey. He coauthored the book Bygone Boston in 2003 and hopes someday to pen a bio of Hobey Baker.

Angela just stopped down, she says that every Bruin was present and accounted for.

12:14 p.m.
From Peter Chiarelli...
"At this point It's starting to loosen up a bit...Hossa hasn't gone yet. We're not in that mix.

"We are in on one thing, it's down to us and another team, and we'll know shortly -- we've been working on that all morning."

Angela also reported from Ottawa's skate. A Senators staffer said that John Paddock was not in the rink.

She also took some pics from morning skate. [Gallery]

Lastly, Coach said that Peter Schaefer is playing this evening. Kobasew is out.

And one more thing, just to clarify something I saw on the boards: Patrice skated at the same time as Kobasew and Alberts. But did not interact with them. Alberts and Kobasew did not skate with the rest of the team, either.

1:08 p.m.
Less than two hours to go, and I just talked to Cam. Nothing to report as of yet.

But I will say this, it seems clear that Peter Chiarelli & Co. are really attempting to add a piece...

1:53 p.m.
I am about to go in to speak to a member of the B's brass.

I would mention that I have NOT HEARD A THING about any Bruins player being dealt.

2:06 p.m.
Jim Benning, From the 2 o'clock podcast:
"Phil never got traded...we're keeping Phil. Phil is part of our future and he's a Bruin."

Jim also said:
"We got one more thing in the fire, here. We'll see how that turns out."

The podcast is linked in the list above. JB

3:09 p.m.
Don Sweeney on the 3:00 p.m. podcast:
"The deadline has, indeed, passed and we stood pat."

3:42 p.m.
Peter Chiarelli from the 3:30 p.m. podcast:
"I guess at the end of the day, we stood pat. But we had been working on two deals...we targeted two players [or] groups of players and we made fair offers.

"But going into it we knew...and were satisfied with, what we had [on the current roster]."

6:41 p.m.
Okay. We are darn near up to date and the traffic that was clogging up the site and not allowing it to update has abated.

I was particularly happy that this particular Bruins team is staying together. I had privately talked with one Bruins player who worried that a departure from the current lineup would shake up the team in a bad way.

And I saw Glen Metropolit telling reporters on the record that he really did not want to see anyone in the lineup touched and, in essence, said that the Bruins were getting along very well and playing for each other.

"We got a great bunch of guys in the room," he told The Boston Globe. "Everyone is pulling the rope."

That is borne out in my experience over this last road trip.

I never had the feeling that last year's group was one cohesive unit. Not so this season.

Nobody in this lineup goes anywhere alone. Nobody in this lineup is missing a best-buddy on the team. And just about everyone in the B's dressing room seems dedicated to what it is that Coach Julien is admonishing them to do.

Often, like over the last road trip, it is a joy to observe (although sometimes it is not a pretty painting).

Warm ups are coming soon.

6:59 p.m.
Gerber vs. Timmay!

Here is a guess at the lineup:
Chara-Wideman (sg)Thomas
Ference-Ward (bg) Auld
Stuart-Hnidy Go Bruins!

We'll post the recap as soon as the game ends. JB
