Bruins Recall Forward Pascal Pelletier

Boston, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the team has recalled forward Pascal Pelletier from the Providence Bruins (American Hockey League).  Pelletier - who currently leads the AHL in goals scored with 24 - is expected to be available for Boston's game against Toronto on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at the TD Banknorth Garden.  If he plays, it will mark the first NHL appearance of his career.

In addition to his league-leading 24 goals, Pelletier has contributed 24 assists and a +17 plus/minus rating in 40 games played in Providence.  Pelletier's 48 points rank fourth in the AHL and he was named a starter for the Canadian team in the 2008 AHL All-Star Game.  After notching 13 goals and 9 assists in the month of December, he earned AHL Player of the Month honors.

The 24-year-old native of Quebec City was signed by Boston as a free agent on July 28, 2006.  He played in 173 games for the Providence Bruins over the last three seasons, registering 58 goals and 135 assists.  Before joining Providence midway through their 2005-2006 campaign on December 16, 2005, he played professionally with the Gwinnett Gladiators and Louisiana IceGators of the ECHL during the 2003-2004, 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 seasons.

The Bruins return to action Thursday night when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m. ET at the TD Banknorth Garden.
