Boston Bruins Recall Sobotka, Assign Lashoff
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the team has recalled forward Vladimir Sobotka and assigned defenseman Matt Lashoff to the Providence Bruins (AHL).  Sobotka will travel with the team to Philadelphia today for their game against the Flyers on Saturday afternoon.

Sobotka appeared in 14 games for Boston this season before being assigned to Providence on December 30.  During this stretch he notched two assists and had a plus/minus rating of +1.  During his time with Providence this season, he recorded 10 goals and 10 assists in 18 games.

A native of Trebic, Czech Republic, Sobotka was Boston's fifth pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (106th overall).  He has spent the past four seasons playing for Slavia and Slavia Jr. teams in the Czech Republic.  He was also a member of the Czech Republic's teams that competed in the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships.

Lashoff has played in nine games for Boston this season, tallying one goal and one assist.  Through 28 games with Providence this season, the 21-year-old Lashoff has tallied 4 goals, 16 assists and a +9 plus/minus rating.  Lashoff- along with P-Bruins teammates Tuukka Rask and Pascal Pelletier- is scheduled to start in the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic on Monday, January 28.

Drafted by the Bruins with the 22nd overall pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Lashoff made his NHL debut on October 26, 2006 in a 3-2 loss against the Montreal Canadiens.  He appeared in a total of 12 games for Boston last season and registered two assists.

The Bruins will take on the Flyers tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. ET in Philadelphia at the Wachovia Center. Boston returns home to the TD Banknorth Garden on Thursday, January 17 when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m. ET.
