Bruins become 2nd NHL team with 18,000 goals after Wideman scores against Thrashers

BOSTON (AP) -The Boston Bruins became just the second team in NHL history to reach 18,000 goals when Dennis Wideman scored on a power play 4:40 into the second period Monday against Atlanta.

The Montreal Canadiens are the only other team to reach 18,000 goals. They currently have 18,886.

Wideman scored on a wrist shot from the point, sending a shot that slipped past goaltender Kari Lehtonen that cut the Thrashers' lead to 2-1.
