| Albe and the rest of the B's start camp officially on Thursday. |
Here's my last pre-preseason update...
There were a lot of fresh faces this week in Wilmington and it was good to see and talk with friends that I hadn't seen all summer -- as well as meet the new guys!
This past week we had four solid days of workouts and high-tempo skates. Those days were also very important to many players because the majority of us completed our fitness testing.
The testing includes: body fat percentage, height, weight, reach, bench press, sit and reach (flexibility), vertical jump, and to finish it all off the ohhhh-sooo-dreaded 300-yard shuttle run.
All of the tests are pretty basic and straight forward, but the 300-yard shuttle is nothing you ever want to be a part of.
The test consists of sprinting 25 yards, there and back, six times in under 60.99 seconds. Surviving that, you are then awarded a three-minute break and then you have to run it again. Then there's another three-minute break and you run it, yet again.
Now, just reading about this may not sound like much, but I challenge anyone to go out and try it and then let me know how you do!
With Saturday and Sunday off, this morning (Saturday) me, Savvy (Marc Savard), Kess (Phil Kessel), (Brandon) Bochenski, (Shawn) Thornton, Stuey (Mark Stuart), Wides (Dennis Wideman), and Chuck (Kobasew) all headed down to the golf course.
Savvy decided not to tell us that it would cost an arm and a leg to play, but we had a great time.
We split into teams of two and had our selves a mini tournament. In the end, Kess and I got hot, making some shots on the last few holes to pull ahead and beat out Savy and Wides to take the victory.
Then I was off to catch the tail end of the BC game. GO PATS on Sunday!
I'll check in next week.
