Bob Sweeney Named Director of Development for the Boston Bruins Foundation\r\n
BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins Executive Vice President Charlie Jacobs announced today that club has named former Bruins center Bob Sweeney the Director of Development for the Boston Bruins Foundation.

"Bob has been a great supporter of the Foundation since its inception, and we are very happy that he now has a more formal role," said Jacobs.  "I am confident that he will be able to leverage his many relationships in the Boston community and with the Bruins Alumni to take Foundation to new heights."

Sweeney, who has been serving as the President of the Boston Bruins Alumni Association since the 2002-2003 season, played 10 seasons in the NHL - six of which for the Boston Bruins.  Prior to coming to the Bruins, Sweeney played four seasons for Boston College.  He was inducted into the Boston College Hall of Fame in 2003.

Since retiring from Hockey in 2001, Sweeney has been involved in a number of charitable endeavors, including his fund raising efforts on behalf of the Madeline Amy Sweeney Fund.

The Boston Bruins Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit foundation whose mission is to assist charitable organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for children in our community.  Since being founded by the Jacobs family in 2003, the foundation has raised more than $1.5 million through a series of fundraising events.
