1981: Peter McNab takes the only Boston playoff penalty shot in team history in a 9-6 loss to the Minnesota North Stars in game two of their preliminary series. He is unsuccessful against Minnesota’s Don Beaupre (at right).
1998: Boston defeats the New York Islanders by a 4-1 score to clinch a return to the playoffs after missing the post-season In 1996-97 for the first time since 1966-67. Boston’s Sergei Samsonov becomes the only rookie in the league that season to score a hat trick.
