Boston Bruins Recall Nate Thompson
Boston -- Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled center Nate Thompson from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Thompson, who last played for Boston on November 28 in the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs, is in his third year with the Bruins organization. Thompson has played three games with Boston this season after making NHL debut on October 21, 2006 against Buffalo.

Thompson has spent the bulk of the season in the AHL, playing 65 games for the Providence Bruins, scoring eight goals and registering 14 assists. Last season, Thompson played in 74 games for Providence, scoring eight goals and tallying 10 assists.

Thompson, an Anchorage, Alaska native, was selected by Boston with their eighth pick (183 overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The 22-year old center played four years of junior hockey with Seattle of the Western Hockey League before heading to Providence at the end of the 2004-05 AHL season.

The Bruins will play their final game of the 2006-2007 NHL season at the TD Banknorth Garden today at 7:00 p.m. ET. At the game, the Bruins will be celebrating Fan Appreciation Night, which will feature a number of prizes and contests, including a “Shirts Off Our Back” give-a-way by the Bruins’ players at the end of the game.
