Notable events
  • 1933 -- Toronto’s Ken Doraty scores at 4:46 of the sixth overtime period of a 1-0 Maple Leafs win over the Bruins in Toronto in game five of their semi-final series. It is the fourth overtime game of the series and the total overtime time of 104:46 remains the second-longest overtime game in NHL playoff history.
  • 1941 -- In a 2-1 Boston victory over the Maple Leafs in game seven of their semi-final series, Toronto General Manager Conn Smythe earns a $100 fine from the league for vaulting over the boards from his seat and entering the middle of play to argue a call with referee Mickey Ion.
  • 1958 -- Boston’s Ferny Flaman (right), who had not scored in his previous 85 games and had only two playoff goals over his 14-year career, scores twice in a 6-1 win over the New York Rangers in game five of their semi-final series. The game, scheduled for New York, was played in Boston due to a conflict with the circus in Madison Square Garden.

  • 1994 -- The Bruins drop a 6-2 decision to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a ‘neutral site’ game played at the Richfield Coliseum in Cleveland OH.
  • 1996 -- The Bruins win a 4-1 decision at the Montreal Canadiens to up their record to 37-30-10 in their 77th game of the season. It clinches a winning record for their 29th consecutive season, a streak that would be snapped the following year.
