MacDonald to Start
Despite the Bruins place in the standings, the B’s Joey MacDonald is very excited to be getting today’s start in goal for Boston.

When asked what his motivation would be as he prepared for the game, he had an answer at the tip of his tongue.

"You are playing for your team," said MacDonald, who is 2-1-1 with a 2.61 GAA and .916 SV% in six games played with the Bruins. "You want to finish the year off as best as you possibly can.

"It’s tough for everybody, trying to get up for the games and stuff, when…you know there is no playoffs down the road, but, hey…you have to go out every single shift and play your best."

Obviously you want to make as good an impression as you can in the time that you have.

"You never know who is watching," said Joey. "(And) everybody is happy when you win.

"And even if we are not in the playoffs, if we finish the season on a winning note…it IS a positive note," he said.

And if there is anyone who exudes a positive vibe -- it’s Joey MacDonald. The new Boston goalie has been a true bright spot in what has been a pretty inconsistent month of March.

Asked how he prepares for his starts, MacDonald said that he follows the K.I.S.S. method.

"The night before, I just look at the guys who we are playing against," said MacDonald, "and then I just go from there. Once the morning comes around, I pretty much do what I do on every game day and try to keep everything the same.

"I find that if I start thinking about it too much, I don’t have the greatest game, so I just try to keep it simple."

Part of that "simple" method of goal keeping is to eschew superstition.

"I know a lot of weird goaltenders out there," said Joey Mac. "They have a lot of weird superstitions and stuff.

"But I am pretty normal in that way.

"I just (stay) calm and try to play as best as I possibly can."

And that is all we can ask for.
