Kalus and Stuart are ready to play...
"Marc Savard and Phil Kessel did not skate today," said Dave Lewis after practice. "Hopefully they will be available for tomorrow, but I don’t know."

Forward Shean Donovan, who did skate today, is doing his best to work his way back into the lineup on Saturday.

"That’s what he is doing right now," said Lewis. "He’s talking to the trainers, talking to the coaches -- we’ll probably make that decision tomorrow morning."

That was representative of the culture that Lewis was talking about on Thursday night.

"We want guys that want to play. We want guys that want to get into the lineup (and) we want guys who want to contribute when they are needed most," he said. "That’s what we are looking for."

Donovan’s worth to the club does not rest solely on his line of 6-9-15.

"He (brings) energy," said Lewis. "He’s positive (and) he’s upbeat.

"He’s a guy you like playing with."

"And we need that. We need guys like that…to represent the team in a hardworking fashion," he said.

They certainly do, and perhaps the two new faces from Providence will provide some of that, too.

"We’ve been stumbling around here and we’ve got to see what we have," said Lewis. "(Kalus) is a hardworking young guy. I think he’s only played…40-some games, so I just remember how he is a dogged type player. And he’s got some good skills."

And Stuart?

"He’s got some experience here and he’s a defensive defenseman," explained Lewis. "He’s big and strong and I think he has the ability to be good in the corners…and in front of our net. And be able to make a simple first pass."

Both guys are excited to be given a chance to contribute.

"I so excited and so happy," said Kalus. "It was great news for me.

"(Coach Gordon) called me late last night and I picked up the phone and he said, ’You got called up.’

"It’s just great news.

What does he hope to bring to the club?

"Skating," he said. "Lots of skating.

"And shots…scoring and taking the body."

Stuart, who knows what is needed in order to play in the NHL, said that he was happy to be recalled, even though he missed Mark Stuart Bobblehead Night in Providence.

"I know, I am going to miss out on it," said Stuart, with a smile. "I hope I’ll be able to grab a few and give them away to some family."

Getting serious, he agreed that he had been called up into an interesting situation.

"Anytime you get called up when you are a young guy, you just try to bring energy and a positive attitude."

And the Bruins will certainly need that against the Rangers.
