Old Face, New Face
The Boston Bruins raided the Providence Bruins roster this morning to bring up some defensive and offensive help. Mark Stuart (defenseman) and Petr Kalus (forward) will join the big club today. Ben Walter will return to the Providence club.

Kalus, in 40 games with the P-Bruins, has scored 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points -- good for a +7 in the American Hockey League. Kalus has also shown some grit, as evidenced by his 105 minutes in penalties.

Stuart is a known quantity. The rugged defenseman has seen 42 games with the Baby B’s and has four goals and 15 assists for 19 points and a +2 standing. With Boston, Stuart has seen action in 11 games, earning one assist and 14 penalty minutes.

Both should be in Wilmington to practice with the NHL club, at noon.

Look for the official release in Bruins News and the front page momentarily.

Thursday thoughts
"We didn’t talk…about the second goal," said Coach Lewis of the second intermission in the Bruins locker room. "We just talked about doing the important things that you have to do to win a hockey game.

"And taking penalties is not one of them."

Especially when you are facing the top power play in the league.

"Their opportunities," explained Lewis, "(Came off) missed decisions. And that’s how they scored.

"You give their power play (chances)…and that got them into the game."

Lewis, like a Canadian volcano, rumbled through his closing remarks, but never blew his stack.

"We’re playing, (trying) to become a better hockey team. We’re playing (to show) what it’s like to be a Bruin. And that performance was definitely not what we were looking for. We’re going to stress the details of what is important and it’s a building process…through development of talent, development of character and development of leadership," he said.

"All of that hasn’t changed since day one…and that’s going to be continuing, because we are not good enough right now."
