Hannu, Stuart to P-Bruins
As expected, the Boston Bruins are sending goalie Hannu Toivonen to Providence.

Toivonen, who is in his fourth year with the Bruins organization, has played 16 games for Boston this season, where he posted a record of 3-7-1 and a goals-against average of 4.42. His most recent outing came last night in no-decision relief of Tim Thomas in the Bruins’ 7-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida.

Though he has spent the majority of the season in Boston, Toivonen has appeared in nine games for Providence this season, and has a record of 3-6-0 and a goals-against average of 2.82 in the AHL.

However, in a bit of an unexpected move, given that big D Andrew Alberts has been hurt, Mark Stuart is going back to the P-Bruins, as well.

Stuart, a second-year player from Rochester, Minnesota and Colorado College, has played 11 games with the Boston Bruins this season, and has earned one assist. While with Providence this season, Stuart has appeared in 32 games, where he scored four goals and registered nine assists.

The bottom line, according to everyone, is that Hannu has to play significant minutes to get his skates under him.

Yesterday Peter Chiarelli told NESN’s Rob Simpson that the Toivonen move could be coming.

"Joey McDonald…had been the third goalie on the Detroit roster," said Chiarelli. "And he’d had some good games and he’d been up all year.

"(MacDonald) has had a lot of success in the past, mostly in the minors (and) we’ve been looking for some goaltending depth.

"Hannu, hasn’t, for whatever reason, (and) for whatever circumstances, hasn’t been able to get enough games…but we needed some depth and that’s why we picked up (MacDonald) on waivers."
