Boston Bruins Assign Mark Stuart and Hannu Toivonen to Providence (AHL)

BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has assigned defenseman Mark Stuart and goaltender Hannu Toivonen to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Stuart, a second-year player from Rochester, Minnesota and Colorado College, has played 11 games with the Bruins this season, tallying one assist. While with Providence this season, Stuart has played 32 games, scoring four goals and registering nine assists.
Toivonen, who is in his fourth year with the Bruins organization, has played 16 games for Boston this season, posting a record of 3-7-1 and a goals-against average of 4.42. His most recent outing came last night in no decision relief of Tim Thomas in the Bruins’ 7-2 loss to the Florida Panthers in Sunrise, Florida.
Though he has spent the majority of the season in Boston, Toivonen has appeared in nine games for Providence this season, and he has a record of 3-6-0 and a goals-against average of 2.82 with the AHL club.
The Bruins return to action tomorrow night when Boston makes it’s first appearance at the TD Banknorth Garden since February 13, when they host the Atlanta Thrashers at 7:00 p.m. ET.
