Heard in the Hall
Edmonton Oilers Head Coach Craig MacTavish

On what went wrong:
"We started slowly, and they were killing the penalty. We were five on three, and that was not the start we wanted.

Our last two losses were the direct result of five on threes. Your margin of error is pretty fine defensively and from a discipline standpoint when you don’t score any goals.

I wanted to get off to a good start, get that first goal, and give us a chance to win. That didn’t happen.

Because we started slow, we had to expend a ton of energy to try to get back into the game and walked out of here with a loss. We need to play a more defensive-minded game."

On the performance of Tim Thomas:
"We’re back making goaltenders look good. That’s not to discount how well Tim played tonight, but we had 31 shots and I can’t remember a difficult one, or a difficult save. He was in the right position all the time. We’ve got to do a better job and be more efficient in front of the net. We have made it pretty easy on the opposition’s goaltender. We’ve become the perfect opponent."

On his outlook for the rest of the season:
"We have to get out of this. This is very salvageable and it would be a good accomplishment for everybody to pull this out of the situation we’re in right now, and it’s doable."

Forward, Brandon Bochenski

On the Bruins’ win tonight:
"It feels good to win, especially when coming to a new team.

We got on a two-man advantage, and then a five on four, and that was enough to win the game. We won the game in the first five minutes."

Goalie, Tim Thomas

On his shutout tonight:
"My defense had some huge blocked shots and did a great job getting the puck out of the danger area. I don’t really pride myself on throwing zeroes up. In Finland, I had fifteen and it surprised me more than anyone. I wasn’t going for the zero; I was going for the win. The key was not to let them get started, because if they get momentum, who knows what can happen. I think my team felt the same way, so we all pulled together to get the win."

On the upcoming road trip:
"Coach talked about starting the road trip early and being excited tonight so we could carry momentum into our road trip. I’ll try to keep the ball rolling."

Forward, Marco Sturm

On how he feels about his game:
"I’m loose, and that’s how I play the best hockey. I came here last year and I had nothing to lose, and that’s how I played the best hockey. I definitely have the touch now and hopefully it will continue."

On tonight’s win:
"It’s huge. The coach said that our road trip starts tonight and we wanted to finish strong because we have a tough trip coming up. We definitely held on to it, and we all knew we were going to win this game. Even though we took a lot of penalties, we stuck with it and ended with a win."
