More sprints for B’s
Thanks in part to their taking so many penalties on Saturday, B’s head coach Dave Lewis had his boys skating sprints for almost 17 minutes, on top of their normal practice work.

In addition, coaches Lewis, Habscheid and Houda gave themselves laps to skate for the pair of too-many-men on the ice penalties given the Bruins Saturday versus the Hurricanes.

"I’ll take the blame for one of them, but not both of them," admitted a somewhat winded Coach Lewis after practice.

Lewis indicated that those kinds of penalties are the fault of the coaching staff.

"It’s a given," he said, "and that is why we skated."

Coach also explained why the sprints continued for another session.

"We had 17-minutes and 16-seconds of penalty killing time," said Coach, who put his Bruins through a similar seminar last week. "That’s why we skated again today.

"It takes longer to deliver some messages…the win is very important, and the way that we (prevailed) was very good, but we can’t take penalties like that and expect (to win)."

"They played too much in our zone. They put to much pressure on our goaltender…That’s a way to lose hockey games, not to win them," he said.

That being said, did he expect that the coaches would continue skating?

"I told the coaching staff, that I hope we never have too many men on the ice again, because I don’t want to skate any more."

New Bear in the House
"He’s a shooter," said Lewis of his new Bruin, Brandon Bochenski.

Bochenski, late of the Chicago and Ottawa organizations, was aquired on Saturday for Kris Versteeg and a conditional draft pick.

"He likes to be around the net," said Coach. "He enjoys scoring goals and hopefully he can help us offensively."

The newest kodiak in the locker room has played 50 NHL games and has a 10-9-19 line and 24 penalty minutes.

In the AHL he has played 108 games with 56-60-116 totals, a plus-13 rating and 52 penalty minutes.

"I talked to him just briefly, just to welcome him here," said Lewis. "We talked a little bit about the power play, where he might be playing, and just sort of let him get used to his teammates.

"We’ll go over systems with him tomorrow (inform him as to) our style of play and maybe some of the expectations (we have)."

"I saw him three or four times last year (and) I know what kind of player he is," said Lewis.

Lewis added that Brandon has a "tremendous shot, an NHL shot."

"And this is a new beginning for him, a new opportunity. I know he’s been with a couple of organizations but…Peter (Chiarelli) knows him really well and our organization is open to some new looks and new players," said Coach.

Lines…
"I had different lines today," said Lewis. "I’m not quite sure what the lines will be (on Tuesday).

"We had to put (Bochenski) somewhere and that’s where he fit."

So, tentatively, this will be what tomorrow’s line up looks like.

Forwards
Boyes - Savard - Murray
Axelsson - Bergeron - Kessel
Bochenski - Primeau - Donovan
Tenkrat - Mowers - Chistov

Defense
Allen, Alberts, Chara, Mara, Stuart, York

Goalies
Toivonen, Thomas

No word on starters in goal as Coach Lewis will make up his mind in the morning.

As for a medical update:

"(Marco Sturm) won’t be traveling," said Lewis. "He just didn’t feel well today, again.

Coach also said "Krejci won’t be coming on the trip…he’ll stay behind and skate with John (Whitesides).

"More than likely (he’ll go down to Providence). I mean, he only played two minutes, so we’ll get him back there to play some games when he is cleared."
