Boston Bruins Acquire Brandon Bochenski\r\n
Boston, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has acquired right-winger Brandon Bochenski from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for right-winger Kris Versteeg and a conditional draft pick. Bochenski will not join the team for their game tonight in Raleigh, NC.

Bochenski, 24, from Blaine, MN, was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the seventh round (223 overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He went on to play three years of college hockey for the University of North Dakota, before joining the Senators’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate in Binghamton. The 6-0, 193 pound winger made his NHL debut for Ottawa last season on October 5, 2005, and he went on to see action in 20 games, scoring six goals and tallying seven assists.

The Blackhawks acquired Bochenski along with a second round pick in the 2006 draft in exchange for Tyler Arnason on March 9, 2006. After joining Chicago, Bochenski played 20 games for the Blackhawks last season, tallying two goals and two assists.

This season Bochenski saw action in 10 games for the Blackhawks, scoring two goals. He also played in 35 games for the Norfolk Admirals this season, scoring 33 goals and tallying 33 assists. His 66 points, ranks him fourth in the AHL in scoring this season.

Versteeg, who was selected by the Bruins in the fifth round (134 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, has not seen any NHL action in his career. This season he has played in 43 games, scored 22 goals and tallied 27 assists for Providence in AHL action.

The Black and Gold return to action tonight when they battle the Carolina Hurricanes at the RBC Center in Raleigh, North Carolina at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Bruins road trip continues on Tuesday night when the club travels to Washington, DC to take on the Capitols on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. ET.

The Bruins return to the TD Banknorth Garden on Thursday night when they host the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. ET. This Thursday, as every Thursday night game, is a Student Night. All high school and college students are eligible for one half-price ticket in the $45.50 and $55.00 price range with a valid student ID.
