Dallas Has Gone to the Bears

Phil Kessel and Zdeno Chara aren’t the only Bruins who will be busy in Dallas over the next few days.

Blades the mascot will be very busy appearing and attending many exciting All-Star functions. Below is a sampling of Blades’ itinerary…

MONDAY:
  • Blades will participate in the "Teammates 4 Kids" hospital visit at Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth.
  • Then he will travel to the NHL Street Program at Runyeon Elementary School in Dallas.
  • Following that visit, he will join the "Teammates 4 Kids" hospital visit at Dallas Children’s Medical Center.
  • That visit is followed by the NHL Mascot street hockey game, the Stanley Cup Parade and the NHL Salute to Generation of Stars.

    TUESDAY:
  • Blades will attend the "Stick With Reading" program and will welcome home the troops at DFW Airport.
  • Then there is the "Habitat for Humanity House Build."
  • Later that day Blades will appear at the Red Carpet Player arrivals, the NHL YoungStars game and the Superskills competition.

    WEDNESDAY:
The Bruins mascot will be in attendance at the NHL All-Star pre-game concert and the NHL All-Star game.

    Here’s a little trivia about Blades…
Blades has been to two previous All-Star games -- South Florida ’03 and Minnesota ’04. He has also participated in N.Y. Islanders mascot days at least once each season since 2002 and attended the Carolina Hurricanes mascot, Stormy the Ice Hog’s birthday party in 2003. Blades has appeared many times in New England, as well. Beyond his appearances at each Bruins home game, he attended the first ever mascot day at Fenway park last season (April ’06), participated in 2 mascot days with the Celtics (’05 and ’06) and also attended a mascot day at the Connecticut Sun in August of ’05.
