One Big Task Before the Break
Playing hockey is not easy on the body, and without a doubt, most NHLers enjoy some time off. The NHL All-Star break is no exception.

Those players not involved in the contest will get some rest and regroup for the de facto second half of the campaign.

"Coming up on a break, we have no reason to leave anything in the tank," said veteran defenseman Brad Stuart. "We have to empty it all out and give it our best effort -- that’s what we need tonight."

Will the All-Star game, and its requisite time off, help or hurt the Bruins?

"It’s good to get a break, mentally, more than anything," said Stuart. "Just to get away from it and regroup, and obviously your body is going to feel better after a few days, as well."

"You definitely have to take advantage of it."

Tim Thomas agreed.

"It will be nice to take a little bit of a break," said Thomas who is 19-13-3 with a .901 save percentage and a 3.28 GAA in 37 games with the Bruins this season. "Is it necessary? No, we could keep playing…the key is to get back, and have your (game) mentality back by next Saturday."

Defenseman Andrew Alberts, who is also looking forward to the time off, is happy to be back on the ice today, but realizes that he is in for some work.

"They have a lot of good skills players over there," said Alberts. "The top line of Alfredsson, Heatly and Kelly, they played really well against us last time and I think it will be key to shut them down."

"But we just have to keep playing our game.

"In the past we matched up well against them (so) we’ll just keep doing our thing," he said.

Coach Lewis hopes that Phil Kessel and Zdeno Chara do one thing while they are in Dallas representing the Bruins.

"Have fun," said Coach. "That’s it.

"It’s a time to have fun. You have three days, with lots going on, and it’s a spotlight performance time as far as the league is concerned.

"It’s a great opportunity, just to experience it," he said.

"It’s going to be new for Phil, I think Z was there (in 2003), " said Lewis, adding one more time for emphasis, "have fun!"

Let’s hope the Bruins take Coach Lewis’ advice one day early and have some fun tonight.
