BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Matt Lashoff and goaltender Hannu Toivonen. In addition, the club has assigned goaltender Philippe Sauve to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Lashoff, who was recalled on an emergency basis, has played in seven games with Boston this season, recording one assist. The 20-year-old defender has spent the majority of the season with the Providence Bruins, playing in 28 games and scoring six goals and 11 assists for the AHL club this season.

Toivonen, who was assigned to Providence on January 2, is in his fourth year with the Bruins organization. He has played ten games for Boston this season, posting a record of 2-5-0 and a goals-against average of 4.31. His most recent outing came in a 5-0 loss at Nashville on Saturday, December 30.

Though he has spent the majority of the season in Boston, Toivonen has appeared in eight games for Providence this season, and he has a record of 2-6-0 and a goals-against average of 2.92 with the AHL club. His most recent outing with the AHL club came on Friday night, in a 2-1 Providence loss to the Worcester Sharks. Both of the goals that Toivonen surrendered in the contest came with Worcester on a 5-on-3 advantage.

Sauve, recalled by Boston on Tuesday, January 2, has seen action twice for the Bruins this season. Both of the appearances have come in no-decision relief of Tim Thomas, with the most recent coming on Thursday, January 4 against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Sauve has a goals-against average of 5.85 in NHL action this season.

In Providence this season, Sauve has seen action in 13 games. He has a record of 8-4-1 and a goals-against average of 3.44 in AHL action for Providence.
