Toronto Dominates Bruins, 10-2
Podcast: BruinsCast

Boston -- Despite being home in the TD Banknorth Garden for the first time since December 23rd, the Boston Bruins, who lost Monday in Toronto, 5-1, also stumbled in the second leg of their home-at-home series with the Maple Leafs and lost 10-2.

The visitors scored nine unanswered goals in the second and third periods to put the Black & Gold in an insurmountable hole that led to their third straight loss.

However lopsided the final score, the first stanza actually belonged to Boston as the Bruins seemed to shake off Monday's aversion to blue and white and played a solid initial period against their Toronto based divisional opponents.

Toronto's Johnny Pohl scored his sixth goal of the season to put the Leafs up 1-0 at the 3:54 mark of the first, but linemates Shean Donovan (8:46) and Wayne Primeau (11:17) countered for the B's as both players scored to put the Black & Gold up 2-1 going into the first intermission.

After the first, there were not many highlights for the home squad.

Boston found themselves shaking their heads in astonishment after the Maple Leafs scored five unanswered goals in the second period.

Toronto's Bates Battaglia and Alexander Steen both scored twice (with both scoring their 5th and 6th of the season), while Kris Newbury scored just his second of the year (and second versus Boston) as the Leafs piled on the Bruins.

The third was no different, as Matthew Stajan scored for Toronto and Steen finished a hat trick before Tim Thomas, who could not be faulted for the onslaught, was pulled in favor of Philippe Sauve who came in for mop up duty and finished the game for the B's.

Stajan greeted Sauve with a shorthanded goal and Chad Kilger added another to make the final score 10-2.

"You can't expect to get away with playing 20-minutes here, and five minutes there," said Primeau in a quiet Bruins locker room after the game. "You know, it's just one of those things that, as a team, we've just got to find it within ourselves to get out of this."

"They got the 3-2 lead, and we got fragile," said Savard. "You can't do that in this league. You have to come here to win every night -- and do your job."

"When we play the way we're supposed to play, as a team...we have ice bags on different parts of our body," said Bruins head coach Dave Lewis. "And we're exhausted at the end of a game...we can walk out of the building knowing that we've prepared and did everything possible to win.

"And the last few games we've gotten away from that."

The Black and Gold return home to the TD Banknorth Garden on Saturday afternoon, when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at 1:00 p.m.
