Be Safe, My Friends!
Let’s hope our football team can extract a measure of revenge in Tennessee, no? And as we all recover from our hockey headaches this afternoon, let’s shift our sights overseas for a second.

Late yesterday, I received another update from Bruins Director of Player Development Don Sweeney in Sweden, where he is following the progress of the Bruins prospects in the World Junior Hockey Championship.

For those of you who have been running from party to party, and may not know what I am talking about, the Bruins draftees playing in the WJHC are:

Skaters, Team
Yuri Alexandrov, Russia
Mikko Lehtonen, Finland
Brad Marchand, Canada
Vladimir Sobotka, Czech Republic

Goalie, Team
Tuukka Rask, Finland

Don writes: Bish, here is the update for today.

The Czechs won a big game today (Friday) against Belarus to keep their medal round hopes alive.

They have to win again Sunday against the Swiss.

Sobotka had another assist today and now has a 2-2-4line in three games and he has played a real leadership role for his squad.

The Finns shut out the Swiss team and they face Russia Sunday for a bye into the semi-finals.

Finland’s goalie Rask made 25 saves to earn the victory while Lehtonen had two assists to give him 6 pts in 3 games and he is 2nd in the scoring race for the tournament.

Canada had the day off on Saturday. They have already clinched a spot in the semi-final and play Slovakia Sunday.

Canada’s team has looked really strong and Marchand continues to play an important role for their team.

In summation: It has been fun to watch our players compete against their peers in similar stages of development. And we continue to be very excited about where our players are fitting in.

So, there we go, some good news from Sweden. Thanks, Don!

I am hoping for another update from the guys sometime today or tomorrow morning. And I am really looking forward to the next two games versus Toronto.

And let me remind everyone how important it is to be safe on the roads tonight. Please be careful!
