Mr. Obvious...
"That was an outstanding game last night," writes Mr. Obvious.

Seriously though, it felt good to have a more-than-one-goal victory and be able to relax (a little) going into the final moments of the third period.

Did you relax?

I confess that I did. But only when it there was 00:00 on the scoreboard at the end of the game.

Ha! It’s a force of habit.

Mr. Bergeron played like a Black & Gold incarnation of Stevie Yzerman last night -- dishing the puck, making key defensive plays and playing all-around-good-hockey.

Marco Sturm. What can you say about Marco? The man just loves scoring and when he does, it is nearly always a highlight reel moment, right down to the big smile.

By the way, Sturm was the #2 star last night on NHL.com.

Rumor has it that Marco’s last hat trick, Dec. 23rd of 1998, came against current Bruins goalie coach Bob Essensa.

Marc Savard was his usual "Savvy" self (sorry, couldn’t help myself) last night.

He ran into people, dove into scrums and bounced his head off boards. Ouch!

And while we are tinkering with the rules can we rid the NHL of CHEAP SHOTS please?

Let’s do it before someone gets seriously hurt, again. Please? It is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE. Period.

Anyway, even with all that, Savard scored two goals and added two assists. Not bad at all.

And on top of it all, Tim Thomas continued to channel Gerry Cheevers. Let’s face it folks, when things shake out, and WHEN the B’s make the playoffs, Thomas will be the man who laid the foundation.

Ok, enough gushing.

As GM Peter Chiarelli said in his podcast this week, we can’t get too high or low after all.

And the Canucks and Canadiens are on their way. [Shivers]

Wade, we hardly knew ye
Wade Brookbank is again wearing black and gold -- this time of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced yesterday that the club has traded forward/defenseman Wade Brookbank to the Pittsburgh Penguins for future considerations.

The Bruins suspended Brookbank, who was assigned to Providence (AHL) on November 11, indefinitely on December 1, for leaving the Providence team without permission.

Brookbank, who was in his first year with the Bruins after signing as a free agent on July 21, 2006, played in seven games this season for Boston, notching one goal, before being assigned to Providence.

He played four games with the AHL club before leaving the team.

Brookbank played his first full season in the NHL last year with Vancouver, where he scored one goal and registered two assists in 32 games.

Wade was a nice guy to talk to in the locker room and truly enjoyed playing hockey. Good luck to him.

Last Call: Late Holiday Gift
In case you hadn’t noticed, the Boston Bruins salespeople down the hall brought back the 2006-07 TD Banknorth Holiday Hat Trick Pack.

This is a pretty cool deal.

Each ticket package includes single tickets to three outstanding games and comes with a Bruins Hat in a holiday gift box.

Plan A has sold out, and Plan B is moving quickly as well:

· PLAN B: Jan. 11 (vs. New York Islanders), Feb. 1 (vs. Buffalo), Feb. 26 (vs. Atlanta)

There are two price levels: $99.00 (Balcony Rows 8-10) and $129.00 (Balcony Rows 3-7). That’s a total savings of $37.50 per package!

This is a pretty neat gift for anyone who loves the B’s. Click here to order.

Timmy is off. Dave is on WEEI.
Yesterday we reported that Tim Thomas was going to be on WEEI.

Nope. The plan has changed.

Dave Lewis will take Tim’s place at 11:00. Sorry for the late notice.

Alight folks. Got to get ready for practice. More later.
