TGIF!
The Bruins had a fairly spirited practice today following the B’s 5-3 win on Thursday night.

Forward P.J. Axelsson skated before practice to test his injured foot and will give it another shot tomorrow.

Meanwhile, leading scorer Marc Savard (9-27-36 totals) was under the weather and excused from practice by Head Coach Dave Lewis.

Goalie Tim Thomas, who has appeared in 24 of the B’s 29 games, will start in goal against the Florida Panthers. He is 13-7-2, with a .904 save percentage and a 3.05 goals-against-average. He eclipsed his NHL win total of 12 from last year, with his 13th last night. Congrats to Tim!

Thomas and Toivonen worked on defending screen shots today, while the forwards practiced screening the goalies and looking for rebounds.

Jason York walked around the dressing room with the Black & Gold’s version of Secret Santa selection slips in a hockey sock tied at the bottom. Several guys smiled widely as they extracted their secret name for gift selection.

Boston, now 15-12-2 remains 5th in the Northeast Division, but only one point out of a tie for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The B’s have 32 points while the five teams ahead of them have 33 points.

Brad Boyes, Tim Thomas and Rob Simpson were filming the opening to Thomas’ episode of Rubber Biscuit. I believe it is on this weekend. YOU MUST WATCH IT. If you don’t laugh at this opening, well…you just have no soul. Period.

"Hello," to Wayne Primeau’s mom and dad, Peg and Mike Primeau, in town yesterday to see the game! We hope you enjoyed Boston.

Voices in the Room.
"My dad seems to be a good luck charm. He came down last year and we won the games then too. He’s been to games in Toronto and we’ve won. So, both Mom and Dad came down and my son came as well, but he had school the next day so he had to leave halfway through the game. He wouldn’t leave without Grandma, though, so she had to go home with the ’big’ guy."
Forward, Wayne Primeau, on his dad, the Bruins good luck charm.

"That was a great start to our game. We got a goal 19 seconds in, then Albie crushes their best player 30 seconds in with a good fight afterward and that gets everyone going. It gets the fans into it. And that is the way we need to play…Florida is a solid team and they play hard every night and we have to play our style of hockey, play well defensively, and get the puck in deep -- we’ll be successful that way."
Defenseman, Paul Mara, on Andrew Alberts and the Florida Panthers

"I knew it was going to be a physical game again and an emotional game -- just from last Saturday. They took offense to some of my hits from last game, and I wasn’t going to change my game, so…first shift, the opportunity presented itself. Elias was cutting across the middle…so I put my shoulder into him…sadly enough I don’t [have much experience fighting]. I should probably practice more often -- jostling with Hoggan or Z, but it hasn’t happened very often and you just have to learn as you go.
Defenseman, Andrew Alberts, on physical play, and fighting

"It was a lot of luck, I will tell you that. It was more of a hope and a prayer and I guess it was answered…last week I don’t know if I would have shot that puck. But, it’s good. Shooting and you get one like that. Then I start thinking, ’Hey, I might as well shoot them all if you get in the area.’"
Forward, Brad Boyes, on luck and shooting
