Will the Eagle fly?
Timmy is a go.

Tim Thomas will go in net tonight for the Boston Bruins.

Thomas, who dressed as backup Dec. 12 in Montreal, stopped his career-best consecutive games played stretch at 21 thanks to a flu-bug.

His previous career-high in that category was 18 games from Jan. 10-Mar. 1, 2006. He is 5-2-0 in his last seven starts and is 12-5-1 in his last 18 decisions.

"Timmy’s had a good run," said Head Coach Dave Lewis. "He feels better today, was a little sick in Montreal.

"He’s ready to go."

However, all-world goalie Martin Brodeur may not be in the barrel for the B’s opponents.

It seems as if Scott Clemmensen, ex Boston College Eagle, may be the starting goalie for the New Jersey Devils for this evening -- at least that is the word that filtered through the media corps this morning.

Thus far, Clemmensen has played in only two games and has garnered a 0-0-1 record, a 3.33 GAA and a .833 SV%.

We’ve seen it written elsewhere, but all of the Bruins were preaching patience against one of the NHL’s most disciplined squads.

"You have to be really patient with these guys," said B’s forward Shean Donovan. "They capitalize on mistakes and that’s they way they’ve been…forever.

"They play a great system."

The defense agreed.

"They always play like that," said Milan Jurcina. "You have to play a patient game because they are waiting for mistakes.

"You have to keep it simple and stick with the program."

New Jersey is 17-10-2, but only 6-8-1 on the road. Tonight they will work hard to shut down the Savard and Bergeron lines, so it’s the Primeau and Stastny lines that might be the keys to a Bruins victory.

"I’d like to believe so, for sure," said Jeff Hoggan. "We go into every game thinking that. You know, with Chistov and Stastny, getting the pucks in deep, where they can work it down low and create some stuff, that’s going to be key for us."

More later.
