Bruins Recall Hannu Toivonen; Assign Philippe Sauve to Providence
BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Hannu Toivonen to Boston and has assigned goaltender Philippe Sauve to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Toivonen, in his fourth year with the Bruins organization, has played seven games for Boston this season, posting a record of 2-3-0 (one no decision) and a goals-against average of 4.20.

After starting the season in Boston, Toivonen was assigned to Providence on November 7. In AHL action, Toivonen has played in five games, with a record of 1-4-0 and a goals-against average of 3.33.

In 2005-06, the Hattula, Finland native posted a record of 9-5-4 and a goals-against average of 2.63 in 20 appearances with the Bruins. He missed the final 41 games of the season due to an ankle sprain that he suffered on January 5, 2006 against the Ottawa Senators.

Sauve, 26, was acquired by the Bruins from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Tyler Redenbach on November 14, 2006. He was assigned to the Providence Bruins immediately following the trade, and appeared in two games for the AHL club, with a record of 1-1-0 and a goals-against average of 3.51.

Since being called up to Boston on November 24, Sauve saw action in one game for the Bruins, playing 29 minutes in no-decision relief of Tim Thomas on November 24 against the Carolina Hurricanes. In the single appearance he faced 15 shots, allowing two goals.

The Bruins are in action on Tuesday when they finish a two-game series against the Maple Leafs in Toronto at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen live on NESN and heard live on WBZ Radio. Boston returns home to the TD Banknorth Garden on Thursday, November 30, when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7:00 p.m. ET.
