Bruins Recall Center Yan Stastny from Providence Bruins (AHL)
BOSTON, MA – Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled center Yan Stastny from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

Stastny, a 24-year-old center, is in his second season with the Bruins after being acquired along with Marty Reasoner and a 2006 second round draft pick (Milan Lucic) for Sergei Samsonov on March 9, 2006. He began the season in Boston and played in 11 games, tallying one assist, before being assigned to Providence on November 13.

He was recalled by Boston on November 16 prior to the team’s game against Toronto, but he did not play in the game and was reassigned to Providence on November 17.

This season, Stastny has played in three games with Providence and tallied one assist.

Last season Stastny played in 17 games for Boston, scoring one goal and registering three assists. Although he did not appear in any regular season games in Providence, he did play in six post-season games last season, tallying five assists.

The Bruins are back in action tonight when they battle the Penguins at 7:30 p.m. ET in Pittsburgh. The game can be seen live on NESN and heard live on WBZ Radio. The Black and Gold return home to the TD Banknorth Garden on Friday when they square off at against the defending Stanley Cup Champion, Carolina Hurricanes at Noon.
