Bruins Recall Goaltender Brian Finley; Assign Matt Lashoff and Yan Stastny to Providence Bruins (AHL)\r\n

BOSTON, MA - Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that the club has recalled goaltender Brian Finley, and assigned defenseman Matt Lashoff and center Yan Stastny to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

After being assigned to Providence yesterday, Finley went on to earn a 4-3 overtime win for the Providence Bruins over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins yesterday afternoon.

Finley made his debut with the Bruins in a 6-4 loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, November 9 in relief of Tim Thomas. Finley, who let up two goals in the game, took the loss.

Finley has played nine games with Providence this season, maintaining a record of 6-3-0 and a goals-against average of 3.06. The Sault Ste. Marie native signed with the Bruins on July 17, 2006 after spending the past four years with the Nashville Predators organization.

Lashoff, who was recalled by the Bruins on October 25, played in seven games in his stint with Boston, recording one assist. The 20-year-old defender has also played five games with the Providence Bruins this season, totaling one goal and one assist.

The 6'2", 205 lb. native of East Greenbush, New York was drafted by the Bruins as their first pick, 22nd overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and signed an AHL contract with Providence in March, 2006 at the conclusion of his junior season. At the end of last season, Lashoff had one goal and one assist in seven regular season games. He also played six playoff games with Providence last season.

Stastny, a 24-year-old center, is in his second season with the Bruins after being acquired along with Marty Reasoner and a 2006 second round draft pick (Milan Lucic) for Sergei Samsonov on March 9, 2006. He has played in 11 games for Boston this season, tallying one assist.

Last season Stastny played 17 games for Boston, scoring one goal and registering three assists. Although he did not appear in any regular season games in Providence, he did play in six post-season games last season for the Providence Bruins, tallying five assists.

The Boston Bruins are back in action on Wednesday when they square off with the Capitals in Washington, D.C. at 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen live on NESN and heard on WBZ 1030 AM. The Bruins return home to the TD Banknorth Garden a day later when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m.
