Ok folks, defenseman Mark Stuart going to the P-Bruins to work on his game following offseason knee surgery and a missed training camp is not all that surprising -- in fact you have been reading about it in this space for quite a while.
But the assignment of Toivo to Providence came as a little bit of a shock, as he was supposed to compete for the starter’s job here in Boston this season and had shown some signs of brilliance in his time with the Bruins last year. But with the team struggling out of the gate, and his own stats on the low side (2-3-0, 4.20 GAA, .869 SV%), the team obviously thinks there should be a change -- at least for the time being.
No word on Toivonen’s replacement as of yet. An official release will be forthcoming.
