BOSTON, MA - Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that defenseman Mark Stuart and goaltender Hannu Toivonen have been assigned to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Stuart, a second year player from Rochester, Minnesota, has not seen any action for the Bruins this season after undergoing off-season knee surgery.
Last season, in 17 games with Boston, Stuart tallied one goal and one assist (two points) and finished with a -1 rating. In addition to his play with Boston, Stuart saw action in 60 games with Providence last season, recording four goals and three assists (7 points) and a +4 rating.
Toivonen, in his fourth year with the Bruins organization, has played seven games for Boston this season, posting a record of 2-3-0 (one no decision) and a goals-against average of 4.20.
In 2005-06, the Hattula, Finland native posted a record of 9-5-4 and a goals-against average of 2.63 in 20 appearances with the Bruins. He missed the final 41 games of the season due to an ankle sprain that he suffered on January 5, 2006 against the Ottawa Senators.
The 22-year-old netminder spent the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons with the Providence Bruins.
The Bruins are in action at home twice this week as they host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night and the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night. On both nights the action will start at 7:00 p.m. at the TD Banknorth Garden.
Tickets are available for all home games online by clicking here, at the TD Banknorth Garden Box Office, or by phone at 617.624.BEAR. Through Thanksgiving, all children 12 years old and under will be admitted free with the purchase of a ticket for select seats.
