The Boston Bruins Foundation, with the help of Bruins Paul Mara and Mark Mowers in addition to TD Banknorth, is hosting over 1,000 New England high school and youth hockey players for this Thursday’s Bruins home opener versus the Calgary Flames.
Mara, a Belmont native and Cape Cod resident, gifted tickets through the Foundation to Belmont Hill School, where he played high school hockey, to the entire team. Mara extended the same offer to two youth team members of Falmouth Youth Hockey.
Mowers, a native of Newton, NH, continued the giving trend as he allowed for two youth teams from Amesbury (MA) Youth Hockey the opportunity to come in for Thursday night’s home opener.
“Being from the area, and growing up in New England, Mark and I both remember what it was like going to Bruins games. When these tickets became available through the Foundation it was a no-brainer to give them out to some youth and high school teams. We both remember the excitement of going to the games, and this being our home opener, and with the kids wearing their jerseys to represent their team, I know they will have a great time,” said Mara.
The other teams who received tickets include: Catholic Memorial HS, Fitchburg HS, Gloucester HS, Hingham HS, Leominster HS, Thayer Academy, Amesbury Youth Hockey, Amherst Youth Hockey, Boston Mission Hockey, Charlestown Youth Hockey, Coastal Stars, Danvers Youth Hockey, Dedham Youth Hockey, East Boston Youth Hockey, Mid State Youth Hockey, Natick Comets, Newton Youth Hockey, Norwood Nuggets Youth Hockey, Somerville Youth Hockey, Starhawks Youth Hockey, Walpole Junior Lady Rebels, Weymouth Youth Hockey, Whitman-Hanson-Kingston Hawks, Wilmington Hockey Association, Winthrop Youth Hockey.
