When I couldn’t find my way through the throng to talk to the three captains yesterday I was able to spend some time with some of the other B’s in the room.

Just for ha, ha’s I asked them if they had seen a movie recently and what were the top songs on their MP3 players. The following was the result.

Hannu Toivonen, At the Movies…
Hollywoodland is a different kind of movie…it leaves you in a spot where you can make your own decisions about the ending…there are a lot of things going on and a lot of theories about the death of George Reeves. And I thought it was an exciting movie…but maybe I expected a little bit more than I got from the film…and on a 1 to 5 stars scale, I would give it 3 1/2 stars.”

“Top three songs. Hmmm. I’d go with two HIM songs…’Right Here in My Arms’ and ’Wings of a Butterfly.’ For the third song I would go into the Finnish hip hop scene and you guys wouldn’t know that.”

To his credit, Hannu humored me by giving me the names of his favorite Finnish hip hop songs and there is no way for me to translate it to this space. Hannu may speak multiple languages fluently, but alas, the Bish does not. And my high school Spanish and college French certainly didn’t prepare me for the world of Finnish hip hop.

The Countdown, with Andrew Alberts
“That song by Dierks Bentley. That new song. And probably Hoobastank’s new song. And I am a big fan of Train – any Train songs.”

The Wolf Man, Jason York, Spinning the Hits
“Top three songs right now, it’s a little twisted, ‘Hate Me.’ And right now I am listening to that Nelly Furtado ‘Promiscuous’ CD and I like Chasing Cars, that’s pretty good. After a game, quiet time, driving home…for my favorite classic rock, you can’t ignore Tom Petty. He’s Classic. If he ever comes to town I want to see him for sure.”

“The best concert I’ve ever seen in my life. The Ottawa Civic Center, where the Ottawa 67’s junior hockey team play, small venue, only about 10,000 people…Keith Urban…it didn’t hurt that I was sitting in the second row…and he just puts on a really good show.”

Armageddon…You know what, it’s got some really good lines at the end. When Bruce Willis pulls the trigger up in space and the one astronaut comes back and he goes to Liv Tyler and says ‘I just want to shake the hand of the daughter of the bravest man I ever met in my life’. That gets me every time…”

Me too, Jason. Me, too.

Notes on Tuesday’s practice
The Bruins were just a bit quieter today as they did their go around at the Ristuccia Memorial Arena. Again, the goalies came out early for extra shots with Petr Kalus, Phil Kessel, Petr Tenkrat and Jeff Hoggan.

The team looked to continue to work on positioning and some line work on both sides of the puck.

New sprint drill, by jersey color (white, gold, black, gray, red and teal). Coach alternated between the colors, with the goalies picking one and staying with it, and called them out. As he called them the skaters had to sprint across the width of the rink, touch the boards and come back. Sounds easy, but the guys were gassed by the end.

Following sprints there were various pockets of activity throughout the rink. Some PK down on one end, with a puck tipping drill on the other.

This all degenerated into a penalty shot drill, where Tim and Toivo stopped consecutive tries into the 20’s.

The highlight of the day was Toivonen’s Mystery, Alaska save. If you haven’t seen the movie, this is lost on you, but it was pretty neat.

Off to practice. New stuff later.
