Bruins assign Petr Kalus to Providence/AHL

Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today that right wing Petr Kalus has been assigned to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Providence. There are 24 players remaining in Boston, including the injured Mark Stuart.
Kalus (pronounced KAY-loos), 19, was Boston’s second pick, 39th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and signed a contract with the team on May 8, 2006. He played three seasons of junior hockey with Vitkovice in his native Czech Republic with 28-19=47 totals and 228 penalty minutes in 91 games in the Czech Junior League and was drafted by the Bruins out of the Czech Republic. He played his first season of North American hockey with the Western Hockey League’s Regina Pats last season, where he led all WHL rookies in goals and led his team in both goals and points with 36 goals and 22 assists for 58 points with 87 penalty minutes in 60 Regina games.
