B’s Win 4th In a Row vs NY
by John Bishop, BostonBruins.com

Halifax, Nova Scotia --
After a tough end to the last NHL campaign, and a lot of changes in the organization, the Boston Bruins are going to great lengths to make the rest of NHL believe that they are going to have a say in the Eastern Conference standings this season.

And a four game sweep of exhibition contests in Canada versus the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders is a pretty big statement toward that end.

For the second straight evening, the Bruins defeated the New York Islanders, this time 3 to 2, in a contest held at the Halifax Civic Centre, in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Boston garnered their fourth straight win and completed a four game road swing that saw them win games in three Canadian provinces (Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia).

The Bruins are now 4-1-0 going into their two remaining preseason games this week, a home-at-home with the New York Rangers, en route to the regular season that sees Boston play five straight on the road.

Tyler Redenbach started the scoring for the Bruins at 2:01 of the first stanza, blasting a one-timer by Islanders goalie Mike Dunham, with assists going Matt Lashoff and Shean Donovan.

Glen Murray, who hails from Halifax, then scored for Boston at 14:33 off a 3-on-2 from Marc Savard and Marco Sturm, to thrill his hometown crowd.

Finally, B's defenseman Jonathan Sigalet scored on the power play, assisted by Sturm and Nathan Dempsey, with 3:56 remaining in the first.

Then it was up to Bruins goaltender Hannu Toivonen to bar the door, as Boston did not score after the first intermission.

Former Bruin Andy Hilbert put the Islanders on the board at 14:31 of the second, scoring the only goal of the period.

The Islanders created a little white-knuckle time for the Bruins, scoring a late goal using an extra attacker. With just 34 seconds remaining, former BU Terrier Tom Poti scored (from Chris Simon and Alexei Yashin).

But Toivonen was up to the task as he and the Bruins held on for the win. Toivonen stopped 23 of 25 Islander shots, earning his second win of the preseason. Dunham made 6 saves off of 9 shots for New York, while Rick Dipietro was perfect in his second appearance of the exhibition schedule, stopping 8 of 8.

Boston will take a day off from practice, before returning to Ristuccia Memorial Arena on Monday.
