Bruins release 2006-07 schedule
The Boston Bruins will open their 82nd National Hockey League season in 2006-07 with a five-game road trip from October 6-14 before returning home to host the Calgary Flames on Thursday, October 19th, it was announced today by Bruins President Harry Sinden. The Bruins last opened the season with their annual October road trip in 2002-03.

Individual game tickets for the 2006-07 season will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, September 14th. For information on season tickets and partial plans, call 617.624.BEAR (2327).

The 82-game unbalanced schedule for the 2006-07 season has the NHL's Eastern and Western Conferences divided into three divisions each with Boston remaining in the Eastern Conference Northeast Division. The Bruins will face each of their Division rivals - Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto - eight times (four each home and away) and will face each Eastern Conference opponent from the Atlantic and Southeast Divisions four times each (two home, two away). The Bruins will play their remaining ten games against Western Conference opponents from the Northwest Division (each team once at home) and the Central Division (each team once on the road). The Bruins will not face Pacific Division teams this season.

The start times for Bruins games will have all evening home games beginning at 7:00 p.m. and matinees starting at 1:00 p.m. with one exception. The Friday, November 24 game vs. Carolina will have a 12:00 noon start time.

In all, the Bruins will play at the TD Banknorth Garden on four Mondays (one matinee), two Tuesdays, 19 Thursdays, one Friday (matinee) and 15 Saturdays (three matinees).

The month-by-month breakdown: October - four home, five away; November - nine home, five away; December – six home, seven away; January - seven home, six away; February - five home, eight away; March - nine home, seven away; April - one home, three away.

The Bruins' longest home stand of the season is a six-game stretch from October 19-November 4 and they play 11 home games in a 13-game span from October 19-November 20. Their longest road stint is a six-game trip from February 15-24. The Bruins will also face 12 sets of back-to-back games over the course of the year (four home-road; six road-road; two road-home).
