Over the last few days, ESPN Classic has been showing classic Mike Tyson fights. I had never really seen them before. I knew that he was a killer, but he was a machine! He just wouldn’t let up. It was knockout or bust. Most were done before they started. His competition was terrified. All of this I knew, but what I didn’t know was how he had responded to those wins.
Everyone is well aware of his act now -- a tattooed animal with a strange taste for flesh. But that wasn’t always the case. Through his first ten fights, it almost looked like there was some concern for the victims. At times, he would pick the poor “hit” up off the mat. It was nothing like I was used to seeing. Then, in the eleventh fight, things changed. I am not sure why, but he became a different guy. I am not sure why I was so shocked because you can’t ignore his more recent history, but it was pretty interesting to watch.
Another thing that will be interesting to watch is if "The Sopranos" can recover from last night’s episode. In case you missed it, it could have been on Lifetime or Oxygen, whatever it is called now, instead of HBO. It was almost an After School Special. I am not losing faith yet, but Dr. Phil getting to write an episode is totally uncalled for! Does Harpo Productions control everything? Maybe we should hope for Mike to write one.
