Boston, MA - On Tuesday, January 31, the Boston Bruins Academy hosted their second class of the year at the Sports Grille-Boston, Celebrity Bartending. Andrew Alberts, Hannu Toivonen, Pat Leahy, and Brad Boyes were in attendance, pouring drinks for patrons as celebrity bartenders. Later in the night, Hal Gill made a special appearance to help out the rookie bartenders and to announce the raffle winners. Net proceeds from the Celebrity Bartending event benefited the Boston Bruins Foundation. About 100 people gathered for the event in spite of snowy conditions outside and raised over one thousand dollars for the Foundation.
Andrew Alberts loved being able to interact with fans and talk about anything, while serving and enjoying beverages.
“We met a lot of people, signed some autographs, and took lots of pictures,” said Alberts. “I had a good time. It was fun meeting new people. I was the Long Island Iced Tea guy. I started making all those so it was fun. It was fun to get out and see some people and talk about older Bruins players and other guys on the team. I had a great time.”Pat Leahy enjoyed being on the other side of the bar and seeing what the bartenders go though each night. Leahy, like Alberts, also enjoyed interacting with the fans on a personal level.
“We had a blast,” said Leahy. “Anytime you get to go and tend bar for a while it’s pretty fun. I liked seeing how it is from behind the bar. It was nice being able to interact with the fans and chat about the game against Ottawa the other night. I liked hearing their input and just conversed about hockey or life in general. It’s fun to be on a personal level with them. It’s more than just signing autographs which is nice for both sides.”
Stay tuned for future Boston Bruins Academy events.
