Bruins claim RW Josh Langfeld off Waivers; G Craig Anderson claimed by St. Louis
The Boston Bruins have claimed right wing Josh Langfeld off waivers from the San Jose Sharks, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. O’Connell also announced that goaltender Craig Anderson has been claimed off waivers from Boston by the St. Louis Blues.

Langfeld, 28, is expected in Boston for practice tomorrow (10:00 a.m. at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington MA). He has played in 39 games with the Sharks this season with two goals and nine assists for 11 points and 16 penalty minutes. Both of his goals were scored in Boston in a 6-2 Sharks win on January 10 earlier this month.

The 6’3”, 215 lb. native of Coon Rapids, Minnesota was drafted by Ottawa as their third pick, 66th overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons of college hockey at the University of Michigan with 65-64=129 totals and 250 PIM in 168 career college games, including scoring the overtime goal vs. Boston College for the 1998 Frozen Four championship title in Boston. He turned professional in 2001 and played his first four pro seasons in the Senators organization with Ottawa and their AHL affiliates in Grand Rapids and Binghamton.

He was signed by San Jose as a free agent on September 12, 2005. His career NHL totals to date are 9-20=29 totals with 38 penalty minutes in 90 NHL games. His best NHL season so far was in 2003-04 when he scored seven goals and added ten assists for 17 points in 38 Senators games.

Anderson, 24, was claimed by Boston off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks on January 19. He dressed five games with the Bruins as a backup to Tim Thomas, but did not see action in a Boston game.
