Bruins claim Craig Anderson off waivers

The Boston Bruins have claimed goaltender Craig Anderson off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks, it was announced today by Bruins General Manager Mike O'Connell. Anderson is expected at practice on Friday, January 20, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington MA.
Anderson, 24, is in his first full NHL season as he has spent the entire season to date in Chicago. He has appeared in 14 games with a 2-8-0 record and 3.90 goals against average while dressing as backup for 32 contests. His last start was a 5-2 loss to Philadelphia on January 11 with his last win a 4-3 victory in Edmonton on November 19.
The 6’2”, 180 lb. native of Park Ridge, Illinois played three seasons of junior hockey with Guelph/OHL with a 54-41-12 record in 118 career junior games, and he earned OHL Goaltender of the Year honors in 2000-01. He was originally drafted by Calgary as their third pick, 77th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft in Boston, but did not sign with the Flames and re-entered the draft in 2001, where he was selected by Chicago as their third pick, 73rd overall. He split his first four professional seasons between Chicago and their American Hockey League affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia. His 1.94 goals against average with Norfolk in 2002-03 was the fourth-best average in AHL history.
Anderson has a career NHL record to date of 8-25-2 with a 3.34 goals against average in 41 Chicago games over three seasons.
