BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston Bruins announced today that they will host Russia’s Gazpromexport hockey team in Boston on October 28th and 29th as part of Gazpromexport’s U.S. goodwill tour to three U.S. cities. The Bruins Alumni team will play the Gazpromexport team on Saturday, October 29th at the TD Banknorth Garden at 4:00 pm. Bruins fans holding tickets to the 7:00 pm NHL game between the Bruins and the New Jersey Devils will be allowed into the Garden early for this “fan appreciation” event. Donations from fans will be accepted at both games by the Bruins Foundation for local children’s charities.
The Gazpromexport team is filled with former Russian Army and NHL Stars, including, Igor Larionov and the three “Sergei Stars”, Makarov, Nemchinov, and Starikov. The Bruins Alumni team will include former stars, Ken Linesman, Lyndon Byers, and Kenny Hodge. Paul Stewart of the Boston Bruins Foundation, who arranged for the Russian team to tour in Boston, comments “This is a great day for Bruins hockey fans young and old. Bob Sweeney and his Alumni team will be ready for a very competitive game with this Russian club. We remember many of their players from great Olympic moments and from many of their Stanley Cup runs over the years. My hat is off to our friends from Gazpromexport for sending their team to play and for their interest in the Bruins Foundation.”
Gazpromexport will also be playing the NHL alumni teams of the Washington Capitals and the Detroit Red Wings at their respective NHL venues throughout the goodwill tour. Further information about Gazpromexport’s goodwill tour is available through Gazpromexport’s U.S. marketing agent, Pace Global in Fairfax, Virginia at 703.818.9100 or at www.paceglobal.com.
