Boston Bruins
Boston, Mass. – Practice continued today at the TD Banknorth Garden, as training camp rolled into the second week.
The Bruins will be back skating at the Garden on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. before they head to Toronto, where they open their pre-season schedule against Mats Sundin and the Maple Leafs in Hamilton, Ontario at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
The road trip continues on Wednesday, September 21 when they face Mario Lemieux and the revamped Pittsburgh Penguins in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania at 7:00 p.m. (ET). The game will feature two of the NHL’s premier young talents in Patrice Bergeron, 20, and rookie phenom, Sidney Crosby, 18.
The Bruins will host the New York Islanders in a pre-season game on Friday, September 23 (7:00 p.m.) at the TD Banknorth Garden. Tickets are available online by clicking here, in person at the TD Banknorth Garden Box Office, by phone at 617.624.BEAR (2327), and at all Ticketmaster locations.
Bruins assign eight players to Providence
Bruins General Manager Mike O’Connell announced today that the Bruins have assigned eight players from Boston’s training camp to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate in Providence.
Assigned to Providence (AHL) were goaltender Jordan Sigalet, defenseman Jonathan Sigalet and forwards Eric Healey, Ben Guite, Nate Thompson, Ben Walter, Pat Leahy and Tyler Redenbach.
In pairing down the roster, the Bruins now have *37 players on the training camp roster (*including Nick Boynton, an Unsigned Group II Free Agent). The roster consists of 7 centers, 15 forwards, 12 defenseman, and 3 goaltenders.
Other notes
Glen Murray, who has been hampered with a strained foot, skated with the team today… Sergei Samsonov skated on his own with Bruins Strength and Conditioning Coach John Whitesides.
