Wilmington, Mass. – The 2005-06 Bruins season officially began on Thursday with the start of the team’s rookie camp. In total, 32 players have been invited to rookie camp, with some expecting to continue into the full camp on Monday, September 12.
At Thursday’s practice, skaters were grouped into two teams, Black and White. After running into some early traffic problems, the two teams went directly into warm-ups and scrimmaged for two 30-minute periods.
The White team skated to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Kris Versteeg and Adam Paiement. Peter Zingoni cut the Black team’s deficit to 2-1 on a wrist shot from the top of the left circle.
The Black team added a goal from Frank Rediker in the second period to tie the game at 2, but Anton Hedman’s goal gave the White team a 3-2 win. After the scrimmage, the two teams skated at 4-on-4 for 10 minutes and five skaters participated in a shootout, rounding out the first day.
Training camp is free and open to the public. The schedule is subject to change, so please check Traning Camp Central on BostonBruins.com before leaving to get the latest information.
